INCREASED FUEL ECONOMY. Although substantially more powerful and equipped more comprehensively, the 1190 Adventure consumes about 20 per cent less fuel than its equally heavy predecessor (230 kg fully tanked, despite a smaller fuel tank). Together with an impressive 23-litre tank capacity, the range is suitable for desert use.
This is in response to a letter some nutcase wrote to RIDER magazine concerning the KTM 950-990 Adventure. RIDER did a great report on the 010 990 Adventure, but some guy wrote in complaining about the bike, stating that the fuel tanks had to be removed to do such basic services as clean the air filter and change the oil.
You can feel the difference in throttle response, but fuel consumption has definately got worse, not that i care for England but this may be a concern off road in the Sahara later on in the year. Some of the power improvement may also be down to the extra 9000 miles in between dyno runs.

Posted December 18, 2008. i get 25-30mpg routinely in all my 2strokes, from 200-300cc. Can be even higher in tight trails where I'm rarely on the pipe. Lowest I've ever seen was running dead out at 65 miles (2.9 gal tank) in a very sandy desert race where I spent some time upside down in a creek bed. ?
