Power off the watch if you haven't already ready. Open the back of the watch with a T6 Torx screwdriver. Carefully disconnect the back and battery from the battery. Carefully pry up the old battery. Install the new battery. Here, the replacement battery was just slightly larger than the original.

As the title says I have a garmin fenix 5 plus that I put in charge for around 12 hours now and it is still not turning on. The only time the screen works is the low battery charging icon when the watch is plugged in. More info. Measured with TACKlife MUT01 USB amp meter. .16-.17 amp charge rate at standard 5.04 volts. 160-170mA is way below even the basic USB charge rate of 500mA, let alone the 1,500mA to 2,400mA of faster devoted chargers or the 900mA of USB3. I hooked the Epix up to the same charger and amp meter. It reported .44-.45 amp charge rate. BKjhD.
