Thanks for your reply. I see now that there is no oil light coming on when the ignition is switched on. After checking a few YouTube videos, I believe that it is normal for the petrol engine on VW Golf (couldn’t find any videos for the Scirocco). If the oil pressure is low, it is shown by some text in the middle display.
